ARCO/Murray Completes Self-Storage Facility in Santa Monica, California

ARCO/Murray partnered with Baranof Holdings to deliver a new three-story plus two-basement self-storage facility in California.

ARCO/Murray partnered with Baranof Holdings to deliver a 52,914 square foot self-storage facility in Santa Monica, California. The fully conditioned building offers 5 levels, 3 above grade level and 2 below grade. Trunk Space Storage will operate this new facility, which houses 420 units, 120 upper lockers, and 7 drive-up conditioned units.

Located along a major California Interstate, I-10, the project site is ideally positioned for nearby Santa Monica residents, inner-city travelers, and local commercial businesses near the Santa Monica pier and the greater Los Angeles metroplex. The facility is also situated less than one mile from Santa Monica College, offering a prime location for storage needs for the college’s faculty and students.

Our comprehensive multi-level design was a strategic result of this project being a zero-lot line project. In partnership with our in-house design team, we optimized the site layout and included two levels below grade to maximize the number of storage units and available rental space for our client. The result is a highly efficient facility that combines innovative design with functionality, which is a testament to the ARCO/Murray Design-Build approach.

As part of California’s commitment to sustainability, the facility includes rooftop solar panels that generate clean energy, helping to offset the building’s electrical consumption and aligning with the state’s environmental goals.
